A Message from Our Director

Dear Family Members, New, Old, and Potential,

I like to tell others my story because I know there are other children out there who are just like I used to be. As a once shy little girl, I never would have imagined that I would be given the opportunity to make a difference in people’s lives. It was not until recently that I’ve realized what I was truly meant to do.

Before I began dancing professionally, dance was something that I simply loved to do, but as a young girl, I had no idea I would make it my life’s work. When I struggled with communicating and expressing myself to others, my mother and father chose to put me in dance which became the therapy I needed. Shortly after I started dancing, I realized I had a passion. I went to bed and woke up thinking about dance. The more I embraced dancing, my family and I noticed the way dancing instilled confidence in me as well as the ability to express myself.  Even though I noticed all the changes dancing brought to my life, it wasn’t until later in life, that I would truly understand how much it has made me who I am.

Who am I? I am Jasmine Jones, The CEO and Director of Jazz It Up! Studio of Dance. I had a dream and I can tell you that dreams do come true. I love teaching children and want the best in life for them. I want all children to know that they can do whatever they put their minds to. It is all possible.

On October 18, 2016, Jazz It Up! Studio of dance opened its doors to the youths and adults of Brooklyn, New York. My goal was to create a second home for dancers to be creative, expressive, comfortable, and to always feel accepted.  Dance is more than an art form. It heals the soul. It builds confidence and compassion. It forms tight bonds and beautiful relationships with others. Dance creates a supportive family, a village. You can never stop learning. The dancers at Jazz It Up! Studio of dance contribute to creating a better me. I learn so much about myself because of them. The recipe to this great feeling and blessing is keeping God first and never losing faith.

Jazz It Up! Studio of Dance came into existence in about a five week timespan and that was through prayer and the grace of God. So my first thank you will be to God and his son, Jesus Christ. I’d like to thank my family, and friends for their continuous support. Thank you for believing in me when I could not see many things myself. I would like to thank the parents of the dancers at the studio. You trusted me with your precious ones. It means the world to me. I would like to thank the dancers, for without you there would be no me. More importantly, you make me a better person each and every day, and your talents are limitless. I would also like to thank all the parents, dancers, and friends that have continued to support me with unconditional love. Jazz it Up! Studio of Dance is a home built on love….and will always be.

With all the love in the world,

Jasmine Jones
